Gabapentin commonly causes side effects that patients should be aware of before starting treatment, including dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, and unsteadiness, which affect about 20-30% of patients, as reported in a study published in the journal Ophthalmology 1. The most frequent side effects of gabapentin include:

  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Fatigue
  • Unsteadiness Other common side effects include:
  • Peripheral edema (swelling in extremities)
  • Blurred vision
  • Dry mouth
  • Weight gain
