Differential Diagnosis for Atrial Tachycardia Similar to Atrial Fibrillation

- Atrial Fibrillation (AFib): This is the most likely diagnosis due to the similarity in presentation. AFib is characterized by rapid and irregular heart rhythms, which can sometimes be mistaken for atrial tachycardia. The irregularly irregular rhythm is a hallmark of AFib.
- Other Likely Diagnoses
- Multifocal Atrial Tachycardia (MAT): This condition involves multiple ectopic foci in the atria, leading to a tachycardic rhythm that can mimic AFib. MAT is often seen in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
- Atrial Flutter (AFl): AFl can present with a rapid, regular atrial rhythm, but when the ventricular response is irregular, it might be confused with AFib. The key distinction is the regularity of the atrial rhythm in AFl.
