From the Research
Health Effects of Structured Water
The health effects of structured water have been studied in various contexts, including its impact on animals, cellular structures, and human health. Some of the key findings include:
- Increased rate of growth, reduced markers of oxidative stress, improved glycemic and insulinemic responses in diabetics, improved blood lipid profile, improved semen and spermatozoa quality, and increased tissue conductivity in animals consuming structured water for 1 month or more 1
- Structured water on apposing surfaces can generate significant energies due to reorganization and displacement of water as the surfaces encounter each other, which can affect biological systems 2
- The addition of cholesterol to a model lipid membrane can suppress the disturbing effect of the membrane on water-water hydrogen bonding, leading to a more bulk-like environment for interfacial water molecules 3
Therapeutic Applications
Structured water has also been explored for its potential therapeutic applications, including:
- Reducing muscular hypertonia in adults with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities through the Structured Water Dance Intervention (SWAN) 4
- Enhancing the growth and pluripotency of human mesenchymal stem cells when cultivated in a medium made with intentionally treated water 5
Mechanisms and Effects
The mechanisms by which structured water affects biological systems are not yet fully understood, but it is thought to be associated with altered water structuring around biological surfaces, such as proteins and membranes 1, 2, 3. Further research is needed to fully understand the effects of structured water on human health and to explore its potential therapeutic applications.
