From the Research
Recommended Dosage
- The recommended dose of Ofev (Nintedanib) is 150 mg twice daily 1.
- However, in patients with elevated liver enzymes, dose reduction or treatment interruption may be necessary to manage liver enzyme elevations 2.
Dose Adjustment
- Patients with mild hepatic impairment should be monitored closely and the dose adjusted accordingly 3.
- Administration of nintedanib in patients with moderate or severe hepatic impairment is not recommended 3.
- In some cases, patients may require a dose reduction to 100 mg twice daily due to adverse events such as diarrhea or liver enzyme elevations 2, 4.
Safety and Tolerability
- Nintedanib has a manageable safety and tolerability profile in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) 2, 5.
- The most common adverse events associated with nintedanib are diarrhea, nausea, and liver enzyme elevations 2, 1, 4, 5.
- Monitoring of liver enzymes before and periodically during nintedanib treatment is recommended to manage liver enzyme elevations 2.
