From the Guidelines

When discussing their musculoskeletal pain, provide patients with education and information about their condition and management options. It is essential to communicate clearly and empathetically, using simple language to ensure patients understand their condition and treatment plan, as supported by the systematic review of high-quality clinical practice guidelines 1.

Some key points to consider when educating patients include:

  • Providing information about their condition to help them understand what they are experiencing
  • Discussing management options to empower patients to take an active role in their care
  • Using simple language to avoid confusion and ensure understanding
  • Offering written instructions or additional resources for further information, as needed.

You should also inform the patient of the importance of discussing treatment options with their physician if they are planning to become pregnant and to monitor for any signs of angioedema during treatment with lisinopril 2.
