The active ingredient of Santyl is collagenase, specifically collagenase derived from Clostridium histolyticum. Santyl is a prescription enzymatic debriding ointment used primarily for wound care. This selective action on denatured collagen allows Santyl to debride wounds without harming healthy tissue.
