Dosing Equivalence
The dosing equivalence between clonazepam and Ativan (lorazepam) can be determined from the following studies:
- In a study comparing the efficacy and tolerability of lorazepam and clonazepam in the treatment of status epilepticus, lorazepam 4 to 10 mg IV was compared to clonazepam 1 mg IV 1.
- A case study reported that an equivalent dose of lorazepam had ameliorated panic attacks in a patient, but clonazepam was more effective in resolving obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms 2.
Key Findings
- The study comparing lorazepam and clonazepam in status epilepticus suggests that 4 to 10 mg of lorazepam is equivalent to 1 mg of clonazepam 1.
- However, there is limited information available on the exact dosing equivalence between clonazepam and lorazepam for other indications.
- Other studies provide information on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of lorazepam, but do not directly address the dosing equivalence with clonazepam 3, 4, 5.
