From the Research
AIm-IGM is not a recognized or approved medication for extending the lifespan of cats, and the most effective approach to maximize a cat's lifespan involves evidence-based practices such as regular veterinary check-ups, proper nutrition, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Currently, there is no scientifically validated pharmaceutical intervention specifically designed to significantly extend feline lifespan. While research into aging and longevity continues in veterinary medicine, there are no approved drugs marketed as "AIm-IGM" or similar names for life extension in cats.
Instead of seeking unproven medications, cat owners should focus on:
- Regular veterinary check-ups (at least annually, semi-annually for senior cats)
- Proper nutrition through high-quality commercial cat food appropriate for the cat's age and health status
- Maintaining a healthy weight
- Providing regular exercise through play
- Ensuring good dental care
- Keeping vaccinations current
- Controlling parasites
These evidence-based practices address the primary factors that influence feline longevity by preventing disease, identifying health issues early, and maintaining optimal physiological function throughout the cat's life, as supported by studies on the importance of nutrition and lifestyle in animal health 1. Additionally, research on omega-3 fatty acids suggests that they may have health benefits, including reducing inflammation and improving heart health, but there is no direct evidence to support their use in extending feline lifespan 2, 3, 4, 5.
