Some studies suggest that taking omeprazole twice daily may be more effective than taking it once daily, especially for certain conditions like eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) 1. In such circumstances, it is essential that patients and their general practitioners are made clear of the reasons for the prescription of omeprazole, that is, for the management of EoE, rather than as a GORD treatment.

3. Carefully empty all of the pellets inside the capsule on the applesauce.
4. Mix the pellets with the applesauce.
5. Swallow applesauce and pellets immediately with a glass of cool water to ensure complete swallowing of the pellets. Do not chew or crush the pellets.

Patients should take omeprazole delayed-release capsules before meals. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as possible, but not if the next scheduled dose is due.
