Tadalafil Lowers Blood Pressure, Not Raises It

  • No subject taking tamsulosin had standing systolic blood pressure <85 mm Hg when combined with tadalafil. 6

Clinical recommendation: Tadalafil may be combined with tamsulosin but requires caution with doxazosin, using the lowest tadalafil dose only in hemodynamically stable patients. 2, 6

Contraindications Based on Baseline Blood Pressure

Tadalafil is contraindicated in patients with poorly controlled blood pressure or hypotension. 2

  • Avoid tadalafil when baseline systolic blood pressure is <100 mm Hg, as further vasodilation may precipitate symptomatic hypotension. 7
